Is MangoBlog supposed to email you when there are comments to moderate, cozz I never get any emails.

You would receive an email when the comment was made yes. You might have your mail server set up incorrectly or they are going to your junk mail.

the mail settings seem to be fine as an email goes out if someone subscribes tot he blog, I tested it.
however when a comment is left, no emails go out at all to anyone. I have checked the MAIL log.

Having checked the MangoBlog log, this appears every time a comment is posted, so there is obviously a bug somewhere.

Error Detail:
Error while calling plugin org.mangoblog.plugins.SubscriptionHandler: valid values are [plain,text,html] but value is now [plain text]

ok I found the cause. I use powermail plugin by Adam Tuttle, and this has the default mail type set as "plain text", it needs to be "plain", at least on Railo anyway.
The default built in mailer may well also have this issue.

I had verified it that the core doesn't contain that, so that is why I found it weird that the error would say that.
